Owl City – A World Of Imaginations

There have been many great music bands and solo artists that we have listened to, but there is only one band or should I say one singer that is on a track of its own. It creates its own magic in its own way.

Uniqueness and creativity with a delightful scoop of pure sugary and “Strawberry Avalanche” is how I would put it.

“You would not believe your eyes,
If ten million fireflies,
Lit up the world as I fell asleep,
Cause they’d fill the open air,
And leave tear drops everywhere,
You’d think me rude,
But I would just stand and stare. “

Owl City, whose very first song that I heard put light on my belief that creativity exists everywhere and that it manifests itself in whatever it augurs well with.
The songs are a class apart.
What is absolutely splendid about this band is that it creates a euphoric feel whenever you listen to it.

Started as a project by Adam Young, this band is total enjoyment in its raw form. He pours his heart out in each song and his emotions flow as you are swayed towards the Sea Of Tranquility.

After two independent releases, the debut album “Ocean Eyes” brought mainstream success to Owl City which was then followed by two more albums, “All Things Bright And Beautiful” and “The Midsummer Station“.
Apart from these, Owl City’s songs have featured repeatedly in animated movies.

Words flow like poetry in motion and the charm is something that sweeps the floor beneath your feet. Adjectives run out when you talk about the songs.
It’s like a totally different world that you find yourselves in when you have your headphones on and Owl City on your playlist.

“I am the red in the rose, the flowers,
On the blankets on your bedroom floor,
And I am the gray in the ghost that hides,
With your clothes behind your closet door. “
~The Technicolor Phase

The songs are a riot of colors and you can discover the vividness without a delay.
As I would like to put it, spectacular is one short of Owl City.

“When tiger eyes begin making you blush,
And when diamonds boast that they can’t be crushed,
Let ’em go, ’cause dreams don’t turn to dust. “
~Dreams Don’t Turn To Dust

The way in which they metamorphose the random unreality to epic proportions is breathtaking. It’s an overwhelming delight.

Seldom have we had a single song that suits all occasions but “Fireflies” is one exception. It’s a song for all seasons.
The songs are sugar delicious and portray our daily activities and the surroundings in the most scintillating form.
Peppy and catchy, the songs make you sit up and take notice.

Although each and every song of Owl City is special, “If My Heart Was A House”, “How I Became The Sea” and “Galaxies” are real wonders.

“The stars lean down to kiss you,
And I lie awake and miss you,
Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere,
Cause I’ll doze off safe and soundly,
But I’ll miss your arms around me,
I’d send a postcard to you, dear,
Cause I wish you were here. “
~Vanilla Twilight

Romantic songs don’t get any awesome than this as romance blooms in the air.

You ideas soar and imaginations fly with the songs, “To The Sky”. Excellence personified and brilliance intensified, the songs infuse a new life in you.
The songs are inspirational and you feel like you dived in a deep pool of optimism.

The lyrics ventilate what you feel inside.

“I’m tired of waking up in tears because I can’t put back these phobias and fears.”

If you had a bad day, all you need to do is listen to Owl City and have a “Good Time” because this song pumps you up when you feel down and inculcates a new found zeal and enthusiasm in you.

“Cause we’re burning bright,
As we all unite,
And when it’s all said and done,
We’ll shine like the sun,
So don’t let the fire die,
And we’ll watch the sky,
As it fills with light,
And though the embers are new,
Whatever you do, just don’t let the fire die. “

The interlude between the beginning instrumentals and the ending harmonies is majestic and surreal, an illusion beyond words. Background piano notes and the drum beats synchronize spectacularly to lay bare the wonderful composition of Adam Young.

“This peppermint winter is so sugar sweet,
I don’t need to taste to believe,
What’s December without Christmas Eve. “
~Peppermint Winter

The charm of the words gives you fuzzy feelings inside as you escape into your fantasy world.
The lyrics lay emphasis on the message that the songs want to convey in the most compelling form. The ease in the lyrics is unmatched and unputdownable.
The choices of words add to the upbeat feel of the songs further adding to the intensity.

“When the sun goes down and the lights burn out,
Then it’s time for you to shine,
Brighter than a shooting star,
So shine no matter where you are. “
~Shooting Star

Owl City’s songs are a rarity and its quality, magnificent.
There’s not a single Owl City song which does not take you to your imaginative world, full of swirls and twirls.

“I’ll be out of my mind,
And you’ll be out of ideas pretty soon,
So let’s spend the afternoon,
In a cold hot air balloon.
Leave your jacket behind,
Lean out and touch the tree tops over town,
I can’t wait to kiss the ground wherever we touch back down. “
~Hot Air Balloon

The tempo changes in the music take you to a trance state enriching you with the nourishment of music in its highest form.

It calms your mind, soothes your senses and takes you on a joyride. The songs bring out each and every trait of your character.

The music plays a very essential and pivotal role in the songs. The music comprises several layers, each telling a story of its own.

“Shipwreck in a sea of faces,
There’s a dreamy world up there,
Dear friends in higher places,
Carry me away from here. “
~To The Sky

And when you hear the lines,

“Cause the spaces between my fingers,
Are right where yours fit perfectly. “
~Vanilla Twilight

You can feel the “Butterfly Wings” in your stomach with romantic thoughts cropping up and bringing a wide and gleaming smile to your face as you look at your fingers and think about your love.

Too much would be too little to talk about the wavelength of this artist’s talent, so I may just say that this artist is incredible and is one of my favorites.

Each and every song of Owl City deserves a place among the greatest songs of all time.

I can’t stop writing about Owl City but I would pause for a moment to share this thought with you that Owl City delivers perfectly,

“You make my frown turn upside down and now my worries are gone. “
~Hot Air Balloon
